Tribal Government ConsultingI have worked on ABC projects for nearly five years both for big 5 consultancies and Tribal Consulting. These projects have covered software implementation, model design, model build and model usage for a range of government departments and using several of the ABC tools on the market. I have recently been working on a project implementing ProDacapo within an Oracle environment. The implementation has run smoothly over the past six months, the design support from Bellis-Jones Hill has been superb and the nature of the software permits the addition of complexity into an existing model rather than having to start from scratch when the model design changes. The speed of calculation over Oracle is excellent, that statement also holds true for data load - something which can often bring a model build phase to a crawl. The few problems I have encountered with proDacapo have been quickly fixed by the helpdesk. The helpdesk are extremely quick at designing solutions to issues whether the issue is generic or whether it only relates to your model. They sent through several patches and routines during the model build phase to make the build run as smoothly as possible. I can honestly say they have solved all my issues in a timely manner - a rare commodity for an IT helpdesk. Prodacapo does all the things expected of an ABC package, however of the products I've used Prodacapo gives the greatest visibility of what happens within an ABC model through its user-friendly interface and graphical views of the data and linkages. It is alone in offering process-mapping within the ABC tool which offers clarity into both the validity of Activities and improvements which can be driven from more efficient working. The separation of resources from cost allows variability to be attached in the correct place for scenario costing. Adam Searle Senior Consultant Tribal Government Consulting |
